Privacy notice & your UK GDPR rights
Last updated 2026. This notice explains how Launchpad handles personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Launchpad is the data controller for the information you give us through this app. You can reach us about anything in this notice at info@launchpadjobs.co.uk.
What information we hold
- Account details — name, email address, password (stored encrypted), and account type.
- Job seeker profile / CV — headline, summary, education, skills, work experience, volunteering, achievements, what you're looking for, phone number and your chosen town.
- Employer profile — company name, industry, description, website, contact email and phone, and location.
- Roles and applications — role listings you post, applications you send, the CV snapshot attached to each application, cover notes, statuses and decision notes.
- Messages — in-app messages between employers and applicants.
- Activity records — sign-ins, role changes and moderation decisions kept in our audit log for safety and security.
- Marketing preference — whether you opted in to receive updates from us.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- Contract — to run your account, show relevant roles and pass your application to the employer you apply to.
- Legitimate interests — to moderate listings, prevent fraud and misleading adverts, and keep young users safe.
- Consent — to send you marketing updates. You can withdraw this at any time without affecting your account.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep records or respond to lawful requests.
Who we share it with
When you apply to a role, the employer who posted it sees the CV snapshot and cover note you previewed before sending. Contact details are only exchanged once an application is accepted or you message each other in the app. We also use hosting and database providers who process data on our instructions. We never sell your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and profile while your account is open. Applications and messages are kept for up to 24 months after the application closes so both sides have a record. Audit and safety records are kept for up to 6 years. When you ask us to delete your account we remove your personal data, except where we must keep limited records for legal or safety reasons.
Users under 18
Launchpad is designed for young people, including under-18s. We only collect what's needed to help you find work, we don't profile you for advertising, and we recommend you talk to a parent, carer or teacher before sharing personal contact details with an employer.
Your rights
- Access — ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct anything inaccurate (you can also edit most of it in the app).
- Erasure — ask us to delete your account and personal data.
- Restriction and objection — ask us to pause or stop certain uses of your data.
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent — opt out of marketing at any time.
We respond to requests within one calendar month, free of charge. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
